I Think I Have a Swollen Lymph Node?

A couple night ago I woke up to my right arm pit being sore. Now I do get these every once in a while especially when I'm out in the sun in the summer time. I knew better than to do this but I told my mom about it and she had to be a big drama queen and say I needed to go to the doctors because I might have cancer and blah blah blah. But I worry about what every one says and I do have a family history of lung cancer from both sides. They where both caused by smoking but I am concerned. But I also got my period later that day and I DO NOT want to go see a doctor. I hate them because all there going to do is take my blood, say nothings wrong and give me some stupid noneffective anti-biotic like they always do. I swear, my body's immune to everything. The main reason I don't want to go to the doctors is because I am absolutely terrified of needles. The last time I got a shot I bit my lip so hard it bled. Any way I was wondering if it's something I should be concerned about.
