Any advice for a person about to undergo a BUNIONECTOMY?

I have to have the lapidus procedure, and be non-weight bearing for 6 weeks, then in a boot for another 6 weeks, no driving ALL SUMMER! I have a bunch of books to read and some projects to do, like study Spanish and try sculpture.... but I am petrified I will go stir crazy!!!! Has anyone else had this done and do you have any advice?
