Gorillaz (Plastic Beach Game):?

So, I've done everything. I have the spanner, I've unlocked the Engineer Room & 2D's Room, but I can't seem to bale water from the lift. I just don't know what to do. All I ever do is just get into the lift, but I never see water. Can someone be specific and detailed as to how and what must I do to accomplish this? Oh, and I drew a picture for Murdoc, but nothing ever happens. I don't know what to do. Someone, help? D:
